Improving quality of science through better animal welfare: the NC3Rs strategy

The NC3Rs strategy for improving the welfare of research animals has been published in a special issue of Lab Animal on ‘Disease Models: Reproducibility and Translation’.

The paper highlights the welfare and scientific benefits the strategy is bringing across a range of species, procedures and disciplines in the biosciences.

The special issue as a whole illustrates how enhancements in welfare and improvements in research methods and technology can improve the reproducibility and translatability of animal disease models.
