Details of canine hydrotherapy pools and treadmills in 22 hydrotherapy centres in the United Kingdom

  • Key finding:

This study used a survey circulated to Canine Hydrotherapy Association practices to assess the range of facilities available. In particular, it focuses on the dimensions of pools and treadmills in use, the temperature of the water and associated equipment such as restraints. From the 22 responding practices, it was clear that the facilities in use range greatly in size but most are using a similar water temperature, albeit one that is very different to that used for hydrotherapy humans and horses. This papers opens up several areas for future research to allow for canine hydrotherapy facilities to be designed and used in the most effective ways to aid therapy and rehabilitation in dogs.
