Scientific Officer for RSPCA

The RSPCA are looking for a Scientific Officer to join the RSPCA Companion Animals Department to help protect and improve the welfare of a wide range of animals kept as pets, and those used in sport and for working purposes.

The Companion Animals department works to ensure that the RSPCA’s projects, policies, communications and information resources are underpinned by up-to-date and authoritative science. They also represent the Society's policies, aims and objectives through the application of science in a range of ‘real world’ situations and via presentation of scientifically robust advocacy and practical guidance to the general public and outside bodies, including government, industry, and the media.

They are looking for an organised, enthusiastic articulate individual driven by the cause of animal welfare to join our team of five animal behaviour and welfare specialists.

What you would be doing:
● Providing scientific and technical input into specific projects, reports and campaigns, both externally and within the RSPCA
● Developing, updating and maintaining authoritative advice and guidance on the care of companion animals and other species.
● Representing the Society externally, including in the media
● Promoting the work of the Companion Animals Department to internal audiences within the RSPCA
● Contributing to and/or coordinating companion animal responses to consultations from external bodies

Salary: £25,946
