Desk-based Research Projects

Type of funding: Short desk-based research projects

Funding scientific research to find solutions to animal welfare issues is at the heart of AWF's work.

They are currently offering funding to experienced researchers for short, desk-based research projects that can be safely carried out whilst social distancing measures are in place.

The areas they are looking to fund are the priority animal welfare issues highlighted in the 2019 Delphi project which they funded and those flagged by the veterinary profession (details on their website).

AWF is looking to support between 2 and 5 projects contributing up to £10,000 each, with the flexibility to extend up to £30,000 for an exceptional proposal.

The research should be appropriate for publishing in a peer-reviewed journal and with open access. Researchers will also be expected to present their work at events organised by AWF.

Deadline: 12/07/2020

Eligibility criteria:

Researchers must have at least 2 years research experience and be based in the UK. Projects must be up to 6 months duration, with the ability to access existing data or collect data remotely.
