Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Cow Welfare

The successful Post-Doctoral fellow will work on an EU funded project called DEMETER, which is associated with Building a Data-Driven Innovative and Sustainable European Agri-Food Sector through IoT. This pilot focuses on prediction models of cow welfare and health based on analysis of streaming data from cow sensors. Appropriate ICT tools will measure relevant parameters on a continuous, real time basis. Biochemical tests will also be conducted to confirm animal health status. This project work will contribute to the capture and integration of animal behaviour and physiological data into a welfare and health scoring frame-work with progression to a reference system to increase animal well-being standards on dairy cow farms.
The Teagasc post-doctoral programme provides training and development opportunities for early career scientists that enhances their experience of learning and equips them with the necessary skills for the next stage of their chosen career in research.
Salary: €37,028 to €41,025
