Farm Animal Health and Welfare Advisors – Defra

There are currently 6 roles available in the team.
• 1x Animal Welfare Payment by Results Team. This team looks at opportunities to financially support livestock farmers to deliver welfare enhancements not currently delivered sufficiently by the market or through existing regulatory standards. The role will focus on policy development for the new payment by results scheme.
• 1x Animal Welfare in Transport Team. This team is delivering a programme of improvements to animal welfare during transport. The role will focus on policy development, analysis of responses from the public consultation and stakeholder engagement.
• 1x Animal Welfare at Slaughter Team. This team is working on a range of improvements to the regulations that protect animal welfare at the time of slaughter. The role will focus on policy development, publishing a public consultation and stakeholder engagement.
• 1x Animal Welfare on Farm Team. This team is delivering a programme of farm animal welfare reform to strengthen the existing standards set down in legislation. The role will focus on policy development and stakeholder engagement, including public consultations on improving aspects of farm animal welfare.
• 1x Animal Health Schemes Team. This team is developing a range of interventions to help improve the health of livestock in England. This is being done through the co-design, with representatives of the farming industry, of the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway. The role will focus on policy development for the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway.
• 1x Animal Health & Welfare Board England and Business Support Team. This team supports the operation of the Animal Health & Welfare Board England (AHWBE) and provides support to the wider Transforming Farm Animal Health & Welfare Team. The role will focus on bringing better project management practices into the wider team's normal planning and provide business support to the team’s Deputy Director.
Salary: £29,179 - £35,888
