Corporate Responsibility Assistant: Farming, Animal Welfare and Environment
Contract: Fixed Term Contract - 14 Months
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:30
Role Overview:
- It is a mid-level role in an area that receives a lot of attention, not only from external stakeholders but also across the rest of the business.
- The role will be crucial in developing the strategy and initiatives to deliver against Aldi’s targets for farming, animal welfare and environmental impact in our supply chains, principally deforestation.
You will work with colleagues to:
- Manage the Aldi Dairy Farm Partnership including communication with our partnership lead at Arla, developing content for farmer meetings, jointly co-ordinating projects and inputting into Community activities.
- Establish the Beef and Pork Farming Groups, and support meetings and project development.
- Review Animal Welfare Policies across species in line with industry changes.
- Collect animal welfare data/KPIs from key Suppliers.
- Maintain regular contact and attend meetings with key external stakeholders for each topic (including consultants, industry groups, NGOs and Government bodies) to:
- Understand any emerging Animal Welfare issues and alternatives that could be included in policies.
- Understand changes to farming legislation and how best to support farmers through the transition from EU to UK based subsidy systems.
- Respond to external stakeholder queries, customer/NGO/government letters.
- Deliver Annual CR Reporting against ALDI’s International Action Plans to show progress year on year.
- Work closely with the CR Assistant for carbon emissions to understand how farming and deforestation can support carbon reduction work to meet our 2040 Net Zero Carbon commitment.
Salary: £32,075 rising to £37,455
