Portfolio Manager

Portfolio Managers within the Capability and Innovation Domain (CID) play a key role in contributing to, and maintaining, BBSRC’s flexible, strategic approach to the development and implementation of current and future investments in: academic-industry collaborative research and development; skills and training; and knowledge exchange and commercialisation. These are varied and exciting roles and involve significant interaction across BBSRC, UK Research and Innovation and with external partners and stakeholders such as businesses, research organisations and policymakers.

The roles will support BBSRC’s strategic engagement with businesses so they can effectively access, influence, engage and collaborate with the UK bioscience research and skills base, to deliver social and economic benefit for the UK and globally. In particular, the roles will support the development and implementation of strategies to invest in collaborative bioscience research connecting academic researchers and businesses across the UK, and across the range of themes and challenge areas identified in BBSRC’s Forward Look for UK Bioscience. This portfolio of activity will provide the post-holders with an unrivalled, exciting opportunity to gain experience and insight into cutting edge bioscience research, innovation, policy and strategy. The role will be a key part of the team helping to deliver CID business and innovation objectives within BBSRC’s Delivery Plan.

We are looking for candidates who have a proven aptitude for broad strategic thinking and flexible working. An awareness of the current UK bioscience research, innovation and skills landscape is desirable; and candidates must have an interest in the biological sciences and its impacts.

This role is aimed mostly at candidates who are post PhD, though graduates with some other experience, including lab experience, may be well placed to apply.
