Logistics Manager – British Hen Welfare Trust

They are looking for someone with outstanding logistics experience to manage the multifaceted operations of the Charity, including volunteer management. The role includes planning, scheduling and coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, delivering exceptional service, and overseeing time management and cost considerations. Additionally the role will also be responsible for managing our large volunteer cohort, ensuring that our teams are supported and equipped to operate efficiently and safely at numerous locations nationwide. The role will occasionally include some weekend hours.

Main Responsibilities:

Logistics

Working closely with their valued farmers to:
Grow industry knowledge
Cultivate and nurture positive relationships with our current farmers
Source and develop mutually beneficial relationships with new farmers
Work to improve the current system managing the ‘pipeline’ of hens: rescuing from slaughter
Providing beginning-to-end logistical planning and support
Liaising with volunteer Farm Leads (or acting as in the absence of one)
Advising on bird depopulation management
Ensuring that adequate transport and equipment (including vehicles, drivers and trailers) is in place on rehoming weekends

Working to support their volunteer teams through:

Proactive volunteer management
Fostering flexibility and self-sufficiency
Providing reactive support when required
Ensuring teams are supported and equipped to operate efficiently and safely
Proactively looking for new sites and collaborative opportunities
Managing role specific recruitment campaigns for new volunteers
Managing the recruitment process for new volunteers
Overseeing training, induction and support for all volunteers across the charity
Ensuring that all policies relating to volunteer activities are current, compliant and practised
Working with the Marketing and Comms team to create and publish relevant volunteer materials, such as enewsletters, social media posts and handbooks
Responding to queries and resolving problems on rehoming days, including emergencies such as vehicle breakdown, including coordination of support for resolution
Collating feedback, resolving and tracking issues for future reference, including reporting our to line mangers to continually improve best practices.

Full time position based in South Molton, Devon.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
