Higher Scientific Advisor to Animal Welfare Policy

This HSO vacancy is in the area of animal welfare; in this role the successful candidate will be providing objective, balanced and evidence-based advice to DEFRA’s animal welfare policy team as well as analysis and evaluation of data/ information provided to the policy team by Government Agency partners. The post-holder will be working in a fast paced, high-pressure, high profile area and will be part of APHA’s Advice Services Team, advising Defra’s Animal Welfare policy team across a range of scientific disciplines within the animal welfare team’s portfolio, principally concerning the animal welfare of farm animals, companion animals, and animals during transport and at slaughter. The post is full-time, we may consider two part-time staff if continuity can be arranged.

Please note that once Covid rules have relaxed, the successful candidate will be expected to be based in one of the APHA offices located nationwide with regular attendance to London as business requires.

Salary: National: £29,179 - £32,160, London: £32,557 - £35,888
