PhD position on social relationship in pigs

This 4-year PhD project aims to study the influence of social relationships on pig behaviour, health and fitness. The candidate would be employed at the Polish Academy of Sciences, while the study takes place partly in Edinburgh, UK and partly in Jastrzebiec, Polen.
The project involves collecting data, mainly behavioural observations, of farm pigs; statistically analysing the data; and preparing manuscripts for publication. The data collection largely takes place in Edinburgh, UK, in collaboration with a team of researchers at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC). The final part of the project takes place in Poland and involves behavioural observations on pigs. As part of the doctoral programme, there are several compulsory PhD training courses to enhance the candidate’s scientific skills.

The candidate will be responsible for the collection and organization of data, and for analysing and communicating the results of the project to the wider scientific community (through scientific publications and conference presentations).
