Research Manager Food Business EU

Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) are now looking for a skilled farm animal welfare scientist to join our Food Business team. The Research Manager (Europe) Food Business will contribute to the further development and ongoing management of their technical resources, advisory service to the European food industry, and scientific network on farm animal welfare issues and solutions, which underpin the credibility of their programme. The role will also provide technical support and knowledge transfer within our food business team, the wider organization and externally to corporate partners and wider stakeholder groups.

The right candidate will have a proven scientific background, good practical knowledge of farm animal welfare, and a commercial awareness of livestock production. You will also need to be able to condense large volumes of scientific evidence into succinct summaries and cases of support for the welfare change we ask. The role will require developing and delivering multiple workflows to deadline, with a strong problem solving ‘can do’ attitude. Cross-species knowledge, ideally with a focus on poultry and pigs, is required.

Compassion in World Farming International HQ is located in bright, modern offices; just 2 minutes’ walk from Godalming mainline station (45 minutes from London Waterloo). Regular international travel, mainly in Europe but occasionally outside Europe as well, will be required.

Compassion in World Farming International is absolutely committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their background. We value diversity and lived experience, and acknowledge the underrepresentation of people from certain backgrounds, both within our organisation and across the sector. We welcome applications from underrepresented groups, whether these be of ethnicity, gender, identity, religion, physical ability, sexual orientation or other.

They would like applications as soon as possible as these will be reviewed regularly and interviews may take place on a rolling programme.
