Taking Forward the National Food Strategy for the UK
Date: 15/09/2021
Online
Full scale policy conference taking place online 9am to 1pm on Wednesday 15th September.
This conference will examine priorities and next steps for the National Food Strategy and forthcoming white paper from the Government – and legislation that is expected to follow – as well as wider key issues for the food and drink sector.
It will be an opportunity to discuss priorities for the development of the white paper, which intends to effect a transformative improvement on the food system to make it fit for the future, with a particular focus on health and sustainability. The white paper is expected to be published in six months’ time, informed by the publication of Part Two of the National Food Strategy, which has been developed under the leadership of Henry Dimbleby.
The conference also takes place in the context of other relevant policy developments impacting the UK food and drink landscape, including the Government’s obesity strategy, the Environment Bill, and the Agriculture Act – as well as the impact of COVID-19 and the UK’s exit from the EU, with knock-on effects for future trade agreements.
Speakers include Prof Tim Lang (Professor Emeritus of Food Policy, City University of London), Daniel Roff (Deputy Director of Food Startegy, Defra) and Dr Andrew Swift (Chief Executive of FERA) and Philip Hambling (Head of Food and Farming, NFU).
This event costs £190 plus VAT, however concessions and free places are available, contact WFNF to discuss.
