Session 5 – Welfare and Health, Immunology and Stress
In this session, chaired by Janire Castellano and Phoebe Hartnett, we started with a plenary from Janicke Nordgreen (NMBU) on “The effect of immune activation on mood and behaviour, and consequences for animal welfare”. This is followed by a plenary from Becky Conway-Campbell (University of Bristol) on “The advantages and pitfalls of using corticosterone measurements as a stress indicator in rodents”. Also in this session were talks by Paul Donnelly (Queen’s University Belfast), Darian Pollock (University of Saskatchewan) and Rachel Malkani (PDSA).
